92Y, Fern Mallis, and Leonard Lauder has done it…Again! Another… Absolutely…Amazing Interview with Fern Mallis in conversation with another Fashion Icon.
Leonard Lauder graced the stage of 92Y on February 24, 2015 after a month-long honeymoon… after marrying his new bride Judith Glickman in January.
To say this interview was inspirational would be an understatement.
As a hopeless romantic the most touching moment of the night for me… was when Leonard Lauder shared the story of how each met his late wife Evelyn, and all I have to say is…Thank you Harvard University. I am now a true believer everything happens for a reason
I loved how Leonard Lauder paid homage to his past and his present by telling us stories of his late wife Evelyn Lauder, who has been credited as one of the creators who popularized the pink ribbon as a symbol for awareness of breast cancer.
Leonard Lauder also gave us a glimpse of his present, sharing his love and stories of his new life with his new wife… Judith Glickman Lauder, a photographer whose work is represented by the Howard Greenberg Gallery in New York. Judith’s photographs are also in the collections of the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington.
That Mr. Lauder…I tell you… he truly knows how to work the audience. He kept us all captivated with his stories and that mesmerizing smile of his. With his giving heart… and entrepreneurial spirit… it is no wonder he is the chairman emeritus of The Estée Lauder Companies and the senior member of its board, the charter trustee of the University of Pennsylvania, chairman emeritus of the Whitney, and the chairman of the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation.
As Fern Mallis, the woman who needs no introduction, the creator of Fashion Week in New York City did an excellent…excellent job… with her interview with Leonard Lauder. Fern Mallis even shared a photo of herself on Instagram and Facebook getting ready for the event, and it only added to the excitement and the anticipation of the evening.
I love how watching Fern Mallis in conversations with Fashion Icons, always…always… makes me feel like I’m sitting down having coffee engaged in the most amazing conversations with Fashion Icons of the world. I was extremely happy to learn that Fern Mallis will be coming out with a book this Spring, and I am waiting with bated breath until the day that book makes its debut, I already have a spot on my book blog ready and waiting.
And now…I will end this blog post the same way Leonard Lauder ended his conversation with Fern Mallis last night… with some excellent advice given by the man of the hour himself… “Walk. Don’t Run.”
Thank You 92Y, Fern Mallis, and Leonard Lauder…until next time.
