Depending on what New York Fashion Week calendar you’re using, yesterday might have been the 2nd day of New York Fashion Week or the 1st official day of New York Fashion Week, but there is one thing that’s clear, fashion designer Tadashi Shoji owned the runway with his New York Fashion Week collection.
Japanese-American fashion designer Tadashi Shoji presented his Spring Summer 2020 collection yesterday during New York Fashion Week at Gallery I at Spring Studios on September 05, 2019 in New York. The collection catered to the inner princess in all of us, regardless of your shape or your dress size. However, inclusivity is nothing new for the designer, making every woman feel beautiful has always been a priority for the Shoji. The Spring Summer 2020 collection was the happily ever after we all needed in a whimsical fairytale with Tadashi Shoji as the fairy godfather.
The collection dominated the runway with a color palette that included black, white, silver, and vibrant hues. Bold patterns, tulle, sheer fabrics, romantic lace, and fluid silhouettes also made an appearance, leaving everyone on the edge of their seats with his modern twist on traditional elements. The romance in the collection was heightened with Shoji’s ode to Japan which was clearly his inspiration for his collection.
Known for his evening wear, bridal collection, and his red-carpet fashion, Shoji has built quite the fan base that includes former First Lady Michelle Obama, Octavia Spencer, Kate Hudson, Paris Jackson, Demi Lovato, Miranda Kerr, Lea Michele, Sofia Richie, Kaley Cuoco, and Anna Kendrick. Launching his namesake label in 1982, the brand is carried in over 700 major department and specialty stores worldwide, with signature boutiques in the United States, China, and the Middle East, where the brand is actively expanding its presence.
